What’s happening with our blockbuster events?!? Last week we dissed Flashpoint and this week—well, you’ll have to listen now won’t you? There is a lot of love to have for the Bat-family of books this week as some DC storylines, and titles, come to a close. Of course we take time to try to figure out what is going on with Fantastic Four #600 and why Reed Richards and team don’t choose a more pragmatic way to race into action!

Cape Town Community Podcast - Ep. 027 - "Who Crowned Terry Salsa the King of Strippers?”

Max is back in the co-host chair for our post Comic-Con episode and we’re keeping it quick this week and only reviewing the books—we’ve saved the comic book conversation for a super-sized Comic Con News episode. However, we do take a few minutes to discuss the recently leaked Avengers teaser and the first few preview pages of Justice League #1.

Don is joined by Max this week to review a large stack of books. The boys play, whose stack is larger—Max wins with an astounding 42 books last week. Don’s own stack comes in at a mite 27. Nonetheless, that amounts to more reviews for you! Does X-Men: Schism live up to the hype? Does the Captain America relaunch? Or Ultimate Fallout? Or The Red Wing? There were a lot of first issues this week—so sit back and enjoy the reviews!

Cape Town Extra: "Transformers: The Movie" Review

In this Special Edition episode, Don and Jerry review the 1986 Transformers the Movie! Jerry had seen the film a million times while Don missed it the summer it was released. With the third installment of the live-action blockbuster released into theaters, we thought this was an opportune time to revisit this timeless classic.

As always, we remind you that this episode is as spoil-heavy as our review show, so you may want to give it a listen after you’ve seen the movie.

Cape Town Community Podcast - Ep. 023 - "Green Lantern Loves His Chipotle Bacon Ranch Sub”

DC has us itching to head straight to Subway after a series of ads for the fast-food giant have integrated their way into our books. After some discussion about other ways to use DC character to advertise delicious foot long sammies, we head right to the reviews. And there are a lot of excellent reads this week. Of course, we had to open with the finale to Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley’s “Death of Spider-Man” storyline. We also recommend a couple of titles that might have flown beneath your radar.

Cape Town Community Podcast - Ep. 021 - "Did You Hear the One About DC Comics? Part 2”

Max returns to review the week’s new books with Jerry due to Don’s inability to travel across the country and still make time to read his comic books. Last week we promised a bigger mix of books and that’s what we’ve given you in this episode thanks to the launching of several new ongoings and minis: Ghost Rider, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mystery Men, Supreme Power and all four Flashpoint crossovers are among the books Jerry and Max will be discussing. Don, Jerry and Max are all on hand for a round table discussion regarding all DC Comics’ latest creative team announcements for their line-wide September relaunch. We offer our thoughts on the new Batman and Superman books, the ancillary books, which creators and titles we’ll miss, and some of the changes that have us scratching our heads.

Cape Town Extra: "X-Men: First Class" Review

In this Special Edition Episode, Don and Jerry review the new film X-Men: First Class! Was it as good as the critics have been claiming? Was it better than the last few mutant outings served up by Twentieth Century Fox? Listen and hear for yourselves!

As always, we remind you that this episode is as spoil-heavy as our review show, so you may want to give it a listen after you’ve seen the movie.

Cape Town Community Podcast - Ep. 020 - "Did You Hear the One About DC Comics?”

Jerry’s back and we are not talking about a huge variety of comics—however, we promise more diversity next week! We discuss Flashpoint and Fear Itself and their respective crossovers. But we knew we wanted to spend a good portion of our time discussing last week’s big DC Comics bombshell. So sit back and enjoy our perspectives on everything DC has announced for their September relaunch!

Cape Town Community Podcast - Ep. 019 - "No Mo’ Mogo”

Jerry is on a peace seeking mission in a far off galaxy this week, but will return to our airwaves next week. Max Beckman is filling in for out nineteenth episode in which we spend much of our times discussing this week’s “War of the Green Lantern” books, Nick Spencer “Fear Itself” crossovers, and Wolverine titles.  While we are getting a kick out of the Green Lantern titles, we did have some tough-love for DC this week.

Cape Town Community Podcast - Ep. 018 - "Do Androids Dream of Electric Stink?”

This was a big week fat week for comic books that offered a lot of good reads. Scott Snyder and Kyle Higgins expand the Bat-Universe with Batman: Gates of Gotham, James Peatty’s wonderful Supergirl story-arc comes to an end, a cavalcade of fantastic creators offered up trio of fun Rocketeer stories in IDW’s Rocketeer Adventures #1, and Jeff Parker has us wondering what Bruce Banner’s androids sound like in Hulk #33.

Cape Town Community Podcast - Ep. 017 - "Superman Hearts America Again”

After an absence of DC books in last week’s episode, we found several titles that we wanted to discuss from the publisher. While we didn’t agree on the quality of all the books, we couldn’t be happier with this week’s Bat-books. You might think that the biggest surprise of the week was the last page of Flashpoint, but no—it was Superman’s re-allegiance with the U.S. of A.
