'Justice League' #50 Gets the Hero Treatment

If you are a lover of comic book art, as I am, then you may really love when it can be used for good, as it has been done with The Hero Initiative.

The Hero Initiative is a charity that comes to the assistance of comic book creators who are in need of financial and medical assistance. In the past, Marvel Comics has donated artwork to Hero Initiative’s 100 Cover projects in which some of the most talented artists in comics produce a comic book cover for a specific issue and the results are usually pretty spectacular—and generous to say the least.

Today DC Comics announced their first project with the organization: The Justice League of America #50 project. The first pieces released are from Alex Ross (above), Tony Parker (below) and Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez (below). Jim Lee, George Perez, Jason Bone, and Jim Valentino are only a few more names of the many other artists who will provide artwork as a part of the project. Proceeds from the sales of these pieces go directly to The Hero Initiative.

In addition to the sales, DC promises to publish a book of the covers as well as a public viewing of all of the artwork.
