Congratulations Henry Cavill on your new role as the Man of Steel! Welcome to that small community of actors who eventually go on to play famous comic book heroes. You my friend are about to play the biggest one of them all. This is going to mean lots of press, toys with your likeness, the possibility of being a household name, and sadly it means that your image will be photoshopped to death until we get official pictures of you in costume. Zack Snyder's Superman film is not scheduled for release for almost two years. That gives fanboys and fangirls equipped with everything from Microsoft Paint to Photoshop a lot of time to play with your image.
Superhero Actor Photoshopping (or SAP-ing) is a time honored tradition that happens even before leads are cast in a picture. Many exuberant fans feel it is their duty to help the casting process along by simply removing the head of an actor from a photo they found online and placing atop the image of a superhero's (almost-to-scale) body. The result is usually... it's really something.
I was shocked to learn that this was not an official image of Chris Evans from Captain America: The First Avenger. The pose feels so real.
Mark Ruffalo is ready to make a smash in The Avengers as the Hulk. This pic makes me think that they are not going to need a lot of fancy special effects to make the transition from Banner to the Incredible H!
Fans were so enthusiastic about Green Lantern's costume in the teaser trailer. I can only imagine how much more rabid they would have become were this the real deal.
Jeremy Renner is ready for action as Hawkeye! Right after he gets to the hospital to check out whatever is going on with that shoulder.
This picture of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman is a little upsetting because it looks like a professional worked on it.
I hope Marvel Studios doesn't flush a bunch of money down the toilet on a real movie poster since they're sitting on a gem right here! If I didn't know better I'd say this was an authentic Avengers movie poster.
