Don't Be a Spoiler Sport!

This whole thing may be a spoiler!

I have a concern: Comic Book Know-It-Alls. These are the comic book fans who talk endlessly about comic book storylines as though they are common knowledge.
  • “Yeah Bullseye totally killed Elektra with her own sai in the comics… I wonder if it’ll be the same in the movie? A sai is totally like this kick-ass dagger.”
  • “Yeah Green Goblin totally died when his Goblin Glider slammed into him in the comics… I wonder if it’ll be the same in the movie? He totally came back though.”
  • “Yeah Jean Grey totally died during the Dark Phoenix Saga… I wonder if it’ll be the same in the movie? She totally committed suicide.”
The thing is that these events are only common knowledge to comic book readers. The general public doesn’t have a clue about this stuff when they go to see these films. Now I’m starting to worry that these Know-It-Alls are going to divulge a key plot point to the next Spider-Man film. If the movie holds true to the comic-books—and it seems as though it might since they are including both Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson—then there may be a gut-wrenching finale to the story.

I promise to not spoil it here or anywhere. But if you keep reading you may figure it out.

Comic Book Know-It-Alls might say “Oh yeah, (insert spoiler here) and it totally defines Spidey for years to come. Isn’t that crazy sad?” This would really be a crime for outsiders who are unaware of this significant Spider-Man storyline. So let’s all keep the big plot point (and you know what it is) to ourselves until after the movie is released and people walk out of the theater saying “How… could… they… do… that?”

At this point feel free to explain how this piece of Spider-lore changed the tone of the character for years and pat yourself on the back for being able to keep a secret for 18 months.
