After a somewhat unmemorable cast photo for X-Men: First Class was released yesterday by 20th Century Fox, today brought some significantly more interesting pictures via the Los Angeles Times. We also have been treated today to the first teaser for Director Mathew Vaughn’s new X-Men film (above).
Take a few minutes to read the very interesting Times article; it confirmed my suspicions that the production seemed to be starting late for a potential blockbuster. I hope, after X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox realizes fans and audiences are not going to clamor to these films if the quality is not there. That said, I’m pretty excited for this film based on the newly released pictures as well as my faith in Vaughn as a director.
First we have Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and James McAvoy (Professor X), accompanied by the “First Class”, at what looks to be the grounds of the future Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters.
Next is our first picture of Kevin Bacon as the maniacal Sebastian Shaw, sharing some downtime with January Jones as the buxom Emma Frost.
Finally McAvoy and Fassbender share a game of chess, a favorite game for these two in the previous X-films.
X-Men: First Class hits theaters on June 3, 2011.
