Writing duo Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning have built a reputation for making magic using lesser known comic book properties.
Make that Magik.
The duo are set to take over the reins of New Mutants next month with issue #25. Abnett and Lanning have had critical successes at both Marvel and DC, but they seem to have worked predominantly at the House of Ideas over the past few years. However, they will be working on a couple of Flashpoint titles this summer (Lois Lane and the Resistance and Wonder Woman and the Furies); Dan DiDio has recently intimated that the writing team might have more to do at DC once Flashpoint concludes.
I’m glad to see these two working between the two companies rather than being locked down at one or the other since their style seems to be a natural fit at both. I eagerly await to see what they have planned for the X-Men’s original spin-off!
