Nicolas Cage Reunited with Stolen 'Action Comics' #1

Nicolas Cage may soon be reunited with his 8.0 CGC-graded copy of Action Comics #1 (featuring the first appearance of Superman—as if you didn’t know). The actor purchased the comic in 1995, but it was stolen in 2000 along with other classic comics—including Detective Comics #27 (that’s Batman’s first appearance to the non-comics enthusiasts).

“It is divine providence that the comic was found and I am hopeful that the heirloom will be returned to my family," said Cage in a public statement. Is he allowed to say “heirloom” if he was only in possession of the book for five years?

The comic book is currently under lock and key with the LAPD while they carry out their investigation. The man who discovered it claims that it was among the contents of a storage locker that he purchased in an auction. When the man attempted to sell the issue, the authorities were contacted—an 8.0 copy of Action Comics #1 is not a common thing.

Alas, the Detective Comics issue is still out there somewhere waiting to be reunited with its owner.
