Smallville: Will He or Won't He

Every since the first episode, the one question all Smallville fans have asked is,

"Will we see Superman?"

It's been a long journey for Smallville's Clark Kent.  He was just a freshman in high school when we first met him 10 years ago.

Since that time the idea behind Smallville has gone from teen drama to big time superhero adventures.

But one thing has remained the same. This show has been about Clark Kent.

Not Superman.

We’ve seen just about everything a fan can ask for in this TV series. Lex, Lana, Lois, Zod, Jor-EL, The Phantom Zone, Ultra-Man, The Legion….everything, save for Clark Kent in his Superman attire.

Fans want it so badly that there is a good chance we won't get to see it.

Actually, I would count on not seeing it.

Maybe at the last minute a window at the Daily Planet will open and a familiar red and blue blur of motion will streak across our small screens, but I am willing to bet my Jimmy Olson signal watch, that this is all we will see.

Because the final chapter to Smallville is not Superman, it’s Clark Kent choosing to do something bigger, something more, something that far exceeds those of mortal man.

That’s the final chapter to Smallville.

The next book and that first chapter is called “Superman”.

I don’t mean to be negative or put doubts in the minds of Smallville fans, I just can’t believe that a show about Clark Kent will at the last minute become a Superman show.

But fear not…when the show ends it will only be a year and half until the next big Superman event arrives.

Well, if I pick the last scene I would do this:

There's would be someone or something that would need saving, and you'd see him only from the back in the Superman costume and he'd do his thing off camera and everyone would be cheering. The last shot would be the iconic flight around Earth like at the end of the Superman films.

That... or a scene like the first Incredibles teaser, where Bob can't fit into his old costume and he's trying really hard to fasten the belt!

I dunno. Both seem perfect to me.
