Which Actresses are in Line to Play the New Bat-Girls?

Deadline is reporting that Christopher Nolan is setting up meetings to fill two lead female roles for The Dark Knight Rises, the final film in the director’s Batman trilogy.  One actress is sought after to portray his lady love, and another for the role for one of the film’s villains (I’m speculating that there will be more than one bad guy in the film).  Who are the names being bandied about?

Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts and  Rachel Weisz. For the good girl, I would guess Hathaway, Lively and Portman are up for that role. For the bad girl, my money is on Knightley, Watts and Weisz.

Because this film is supposed to tie the series together, I’m going to have to agree with a good friend of mine and say that Talia al Ghul is will be heading to Gotham to impart a little revenge for the death of her father in Batman Begins. I’d like to see Catwoman make an appearance; her character could easily fit into the world that Nolan has so finely established in these films.

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012.
