KansasCity has a great story about a man who found an old comic book in trunk he hadn’t opened for 55 years. What comic book?
Detective Comics #27. Oh boy. The first appearance of Batman.
Apparently Robert Irwin discovered he had it back in 1992 and was initially offered about $27,000 at the time by a comic shop owner. The book has been put up for auction and is currently at $240,000 and is expected to fetch something in the neighborhood of $400,000.
Irwin says he has a lot of boxes stashed away and doesn’t know what else he might come across when he goes through them. Something tells me he’s already found the golden egg.
